Express Entry is an online system that is used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Express Entry creates a pool of qualified candidates using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

Candidates can only apply for PR with an invitation to apply (ITA). Number of applications selected can vary for each of the draws.

Immigrate Through Express Entry

There are three federal programs managed through Express Entry. There are minimum requirements specific to each class of permanent residence for abilities and experience

• E.g., language proficiency, education, and work experience

All classes of skilled workers have a minimum requirement for language proficiency where Applicants receive credit for language ability in both the pre-application and the application stages.

Three federal Express Entry programs:

• Federal Skilled Worker Program
• Federal Skilled Trades Program
• Canadian Experience Class

Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to meet local labour market needs.
